Part 1
Write a satirical essay addressing a problem in your community (any topic but abortion rights is OFF limits for this essay).
When topic is chosen this is what to include:
- What are the arguments on either side?
- What logical, ethical, and emotional appeals are used?
- Who are the key figures in the debate
- Use a minimum of four quotes, properly cited (MLA)
Then, propose a ridiculous solution to the problem. Proceed with your paper by using logical, ethical, and emotional appeals to make a SATIRICAL case as to why your ridiculous solution is the “best” solution.
Essay should be written in a satirical tone, in the way that swift does in Modest Proposal. It needs to be between 500 and 1200 words.
All three of the following satirical devices must be used:
- Exaggeration or hyperbole
- Understatement
- Irony or Sarcasm
Part 2
Turn Essay into a minimum 10 slide presentation with pictures, animations video clips for example to add depth to the presentation.
