In Hurricane Katrina’s aftermath (or any national emergency disaster), two policy questions demand attention. First, what have we learned that could improve the nation’s response to emergencies? Second, which public policy approaches would deal best with the devastation in greater New Orleans? Research the facts around the Hurricane Katrina event and its aftermath. Then address the following question: Which area of public policy would you, as a sitting Congressmen near this area, have addressed first and why (i.e. Health, Housing, Education, etc.)?
